This Georgian coffee table, featuring delicate fretwork galleries and a rich mahogany construction, arrived at our workshop with damaged fretwork elements and a tired finish. The intricate pierced fretwork that characterizes this style demands exceptional precision in both repair and refinishing.

Our craftsmen meticulously repaired broken fretwork sections, hand-cutting replacement pieces from matching mahogany to recreate the original pierced patterns. Each new element was shaped and finished to blend seamlessly with the surrounding original work, maintaining the visual rhythm of the fretwork design.

The table was then French polished by hand, a technique that brings out the full depth and warmth of the mahogany while providing a lustrous, protective finish. The completed Georgian coffee table now displays the refined elegance and detailed craftsmanship that make fretwork furniture among the most prized examples of 18th century English cabinetmaking.
