What Our Clients Say

★★★★★
We used Olek Inc. to shorten and polish our beautiful heavy wood dining table. Olek had to disassemble the table, cut it, re-attach the bookends, and make it look like it was never touched. The result was flawless — you would never know it was modified.

★★★★★
I have a Vladimir Kagan 175 E armchair that was literally falling apart — the wood was separating at the joins and the leather seat and padding were shot. Peter at Olek did an amazing job bringing it back to like-new condition. Highly recommended for designer furniture restoration.

★★★★★
This is the second time I've had Olek reupholster my sofas. Each time I've been astonished at the stunning work. The craftsmanship is impeccable and the attention to detail is second to none. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my furniture.

Common Questions

What areas do you serve?

We serve New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania for on-site and local pickup and delivery. For commercial and public works projects — courthouses, landmark buildings, hotels and institutional spaces — we serve the entire Eastern United States. For Eames Lounge Chair repair and designer furniture reupholstery, we provide nationwide service with insured shipping both ways. Our 20,000 sq ft workshop is located at 538 Christopher St, City of Orange, NJ 07050.

Do you repair Eames Lounge Chairs?

Yes — we are specialists in Eames Lounge Chair repair and restoration. Our services include shock mount replacement, leather restoration and reupholstery, wood shell repair and refinishing, base and hardware restoration, and felt glide replacement. We provide nationwide service with insured shipping. Every repair is backed by our exceptional warranty. We have restored hundreds of Eames chairs for clients across the country.

What is your warranty?

We offer a 12-month standard workmanship guarantee on all projects, with warranties extending up to 50 years on select products and fabrications. This far surpasses industry standards and reflects our confidence in the durability and quality of our materials and craftsmanship. Every project includes a free post-completion inspection.

What commercial services do you offer?

Our commercial services include architectural millwork and casework fabrication, furniture restoration for courtrooms, conference rooms and lobbies, bronze, iron and steel door restoration, architectural metal window fabrication, and church pew and bench repair. Our portfolio includes landmark projects such as the Yale Beinecke Library, United Nations, Grand Central Terminal, Essex County Courthouse and the Cornelius Vanderbilt Mansion. We employ NYS & NJ DOT-certified and AWS-certified welders, and carry $7M in liability insurance.

How do I get a quote?

The easiest way to get started is to email us photos of your project at info@olekrestoration.com — we respond within 24 hours with a preliminary estimate. You can also call us at (212) 243-3363 to discuss your needs, or use the consultation form on our Contact page to upload photos directly. For commercial projects, we also provide formal estimates with shop drawings and full-size details.

What specialty services do you provide?

Beyond furniture restoration, we offer stained glass repair and conservation, frame conservation and gold leaf gilding, art conservation and sculpture restoration, automotive fabrication and restoration, and theatrical props for stage and cinema. Our specialty services are guided by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, and Peter Triestman has been an AIC member since 1991.

How much does antique furniture restoration cost?

The cost of antique furniture restoration varies based on the type of work needed — from basic structural repairs starting around $300 to comprehensive conservation projects for museum-quality pieces. We provide free estimates within 24 hours of receiving photos of your piece. Every project is unique, so we assess each item individually and provide a detailed written quote before any work begins. Email us photos at info@olekrestoration.com or call (212) 243-3363.

Do you ship furniture for restoration?

Yes — we provide nationwide insured shipping for furniture restoration, particularly for Eames Lounge Chair repairs and high-value designer pieces. We arrange professional white-glove pickup and delivery with full insurance coverage. For local clients in NY, NJ, CT and PA, we offer our own pickup and delivery service. Every shipment is carefully packed and insured to the full value of the piece.

How long does furniture restoration take?

Most residential furniture restoration projects take 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the scope of work. Simple repairs may be completed in under two weeks, while complex conservation projects — gilding, lacquering, or multi-piece sets — can take 8 to 12 weeks. We provide a detailed timeline with every estimate and keep you updated throughout the process. Rush service is available for urgent needs.

What types of wood finishes do you offer?

We offer a full range of wood finishes including French polish, lacquer, oil and wax, catalyzed polyurethane, and piano finish (compounded glossy finish). A piano finish — super smooth and glossy — involves applying a catalyzed polyurethane finish that is super fine sanded and compounded to a mirror-like surface. We also restore original finishes and can match any existing finish colour, sheen and texture.

Can you restore gilded or lacquered furniture?

Yes — gilding and lacquer conservation is one of our specialty services. We restore gold leaf, silver leaf and parcel gilt surfaces using traditional water-gilding and oil-gilding techniques. Our conservators have restored gilded Louis period furniture, Italian Rococo pieces, Chinese cinnabar parcel gilt desks and ornate mirror frames. All work meets the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for conservation.

Do you work on historic landmark buildings?

Yes — we have extensive experience with historic landmark restorations meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. Our portfolio includes the Yale Beinecke Rare Book Library, Grand Central Terminal, Cornelius Vanderbilt Mansion, Essex County Courthouse, St. Paul's Cathedral and the United Nations General Assembly. We carry NYS & NJ DOT-certified welders, AWS-certified welders, $7M in liability insurance and can provide bid, payment and performance bonds.
