Baroque Chair — Reupholstery

Period Chair Reupholstery · New York, NY

Before Baroque Chair — Reupholstery — Before
After Baroque Chair — Reupholstery — After

This Baroque period chair, with its ornately carved and gilded frame, required complete reupholstery that would complement its lavish decorative character. The chair’s carved scrollwork, shell motifs, and cabriole legs represent the exuberant craftsmanship of the Baroque tradition.

Our upholsterers carefully removed the deteriorated fabric, preserving the gilded frame from any damage during the process. The seat and back were rebuilt using traditional techniques — hand-tied springs and layered padding shaped to achieve the generous, rounded profile appropriate to Baroque seating furniture.

A rich upholstery fabric was selected to harmonize with the ornate gilt frame, and the finished work was trimmed with decorative nailheads placed by hand. The completed Baroque chair presents the opulent grandeur these pieces were designed to convey, ready to serve as both functional seating and a work of decorative art.
