Karuselli Fiberglass Chair — Repair & Refurbishing

This Karuselli fiberglass chair, designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro in 1964, arrived at our workshop with cracks and stress damage to its iconic fibreglass shell. The Karuselli’s swooping, organic form — moulded from a single fibreglass piece — makes it one of the most recognizable Finnish furniture designs of the 20th century.

Our specialists repaired the fibreglass shell using composite techniques that restore structural integrity without altering the chair’s fluid, sculptural lines. Each crack was reinforced from the interior while the exterior surface was smoothed and refinished to match the original factory finish.

The refurbished Karuselli chair presents the sleek, continuous curves that made Kukkapuro’s design an instant classic. The repair preserves both the chair’s functionality as a supremely comfortable lounge chair and its status as a collectible icon of Finnish modern design.
