This Egyptian carved jewelry box, featuring intricate hand-carved geometric and floral motifs, arrived at our studio with structural damage and a deteriorated finish. The box’s elaborate carved decoration represents the skilled woodcarving traditions of Egyptian decorative arts.

Our restorers carefully repaired cracked panels and re-adhered separated carved elements, using reversible adhesives appropriate for decorative art conservation. Broken or missing carved details were reproduced by hand to match the original patterns, ensuring visual continuity across the box’s ornamental surfaces.

The refinishing process enhanced the carved details with careful application of stain and finish that settled into the recesses to accentuate the depth of the carving. The completed jewelry box once again displays the rich surface texture and craftsmanship that make Egyptian carved woodwork such a treasured decorative art form.
