Finn Juhl Armchair — Repair, Refinishing & Reupholstery

This Finn Juhl armchair arrived at our workshop requiring structural repair, complete refinishing, and new upholstery. The teak frame showed joint separation and surface wear consistent with decades of use, yet the chair’s sculptural form — characteristic of Juhl’s organic approach to Danish modern design — remained fully intact.

Our artisans disassembled the chair, re-glued all joints with period-appropriate adhesives, and hand-sanded the teak to reveal the original grain pattern. The finish was restored using a hand-rubbed oil finish that honours the Danish modern tradition of celebrating natural wood character.

The seat and back were reupholstered in premium leather, carefully matched to complement the warm teak tones. The completed restoration returns this iconic Finn Juhl design to showroom condition while preserving its mid-century character and the sculptural elegance that makes Juhl’s work so highly prized by collectors.
