This pair of mid-century modern Danish teak rocking chairs arrived at our studio requiring both refinishing and reupholstery. The chairs’ clean Scandinavian lines and organic teak forms represent the design philosophy that made Danish modern furniture a global phenomenon in the 1950s and 1960s.

Our craftsmen carefully stripped the worn finish from the teak frames, hand-sanding each surface to reveal the wood’s warm golden-brown grain. The teak was refinished with a hand-rubbed oil finish — the traditional Danish method that nourishes the wood while preserving its natural tactile quality and developing a rich patina over time.

The seats and backs were reupholstered with premium fabric selected to complement the teak’s warm tones, with the clean tailoring that Danish modern design demands. These restored rocking chairs now embody the effortless elegance and functional beauty that continue to make mid-century Danish furniture highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts alike.
