Eero Saarinen Egg Chair — Reupholstery
This Eero Saarinen Egg chair, one of the most recognizable designs of the mid-century modern movement, came to our studio requiring complete reupholstery. The Egg chair’s sculptural fibreglass shell and precisely tailored upholstery demand specialist knowledge to restore correctly.
Our upholsterers removed the original worn fabric and inspected the foam padding and fibreglass shell beneath. The interior padding was replaced with high-density foam carved to match Saarinen’s original contours — the organic, enveloping shape that makes the Egg chair so distinctive depends entirely on precise foam shaping.
Premium fabric was expertly fitted to the chair’s complex curves, with every seam positioned to follow Saarinen’s original design specifications. The completed Egg chair presents the seamless, sculptural form that has made it an icon of Danish modern design since its introduction in 1958.
