This Anglo Indian Regency center table, crafted from solid Ceylon ebony, arrived at our workshop with structural damage and a severely compromised finish. The table’s intricate carved details and ebony construction reflect the cross-cultural craftsmanship of British colonial India.

Our restorers addressed joint separations and repaired damaged carved elements, using compatible materials to ensure structural integrity. The ebony surfaces were meticulously prepared for French polish — a finish that brings out the deep, jet-black lustre that makes Ceylon ebony so prized among collectors and connoisseurs.

Multiple sessions of French polishing built up the characteristic mirror-like sheen on every surface. The carved details were finished by hand to ensure the shellac penetrated each crevice without obscuring the fine workmanship. This Anglo Indian Regency table now presents the commanding presence and lustrous depth its maker intended.
