Architectural Metalwork
Art Deco Steel, Bronze & Aluminum Door — “Ghostbusters” Building
This iconic Art Deco entrance door from one of New York’s most recognizable buildings required comprehensive metalwork restoration. The door’s elaborate composition of steel, bronze, and aluminum — featuring the geometric motifs characteristic of 1920s commercial architecture — had suffered from decades of urban exposure and heavy use.
Our metalwork specialists addressed each material with appropriate conservation techniques. The steel structural elements were treated for corrosion and refinished, the bronze decorative panels were cleaned and repatinated, and the aluminum accents were polished and protected. Every geometric detail and Art Deco ornament was preserved with meticulous care.
The restoration balanced the demands of an active commercial entrance with the preservation standards required for such a significant architectural landmark. The completed door once again presents the bold, glamorous aesthetic that defines New York’s finest Art Deco commercial buildings.
